After the launch of the iPhone 16 series, all eyes are stuck on the release of the Apple Intelligence features. The iOS 18.1 will bring a handful of first Apple Intelligence features. It is noteworthy that there will be more updates in the future for Apple Intelligence. Apple has been testing iOS 18.1 in the beta phase for now, but now the features are ready to debut in the public phase. The company is planning to release iOS 18.1 on October 28, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Previously, it was speculated that the Apple Intelligence features will debut with the iPhone 16 series. However, the features took a little more time than expected. As per Gurman, Apple is prioritising thorough testing to ensure a bug-free experience and scaling its private cloud infrastructure to seamlessly handle the influx of millions of users updating simultaneously.
Apple Intelligence is limited to the high-end iPhone only. Apart from the recently launched iPhone 16 series, only iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are eligible for the Apple Intelligence updates.
As per the reports, October will witness the first rollout of Apple Intelligence features. This means that only a few selected features will come this month. And the others will be stretched over 2025. Here are a few features coming this October.
Writing tools: Of course, there has to be a writing tool with Apple Intelligence. It will proofread texts for spelling and grammar errors, including word choice and sentence structure. It will also rewrite to clean up what you’ve written and shift the tone without impacting your content. Options include Friendly, Professional, and Concise.
Photos app will also get a boost: You can create a Memory Movie with just a description, such as “My cat in 2024,” or “Orlando in the summer.” The feature automatically picks relevant photos and chooses songs, but you can tweak through the Memory Mixes feature or choose a mood to guide the direction of the audio. You can also add in specific scenes and images you want to see throughout the memory when you’re creating the prompt.
Clean up tool: A new Clean up tool will allow you to choose unwanted elements in an image and use AI to remove them without affecting the main subject. The Android users must be aware of a similar tool, called Magic Eraser. Yes, it is exactly the same in the Apple verse.
New Siri UI: Apple is revamping the Siri from top to bottom. While the other features may not come in this update, a new UI will arrive this month. In the new UI, Siri is not only limited to shedding light in just one part, it will lit up all the edges. Other elements, which will actually use Apple Intelligence will arrive a little later.
Priority notification: Apple Intelligence will be able to analyse your iPhone notifications and prioritise the most important ones, which will appear at the top in a new Priority Notifications section. Longer notifications or groups of multiple notifications will be summarised as well. This feature will also integrate with Focus Modes, minimising interruptions by ensuring that only crucial and relevant notifications are delivered.
Apple’s upcoming updates will bring exciting features:
October: iOS 18.1 with key enhancements
December: iOS 18.2, introducing ChatGPT integration, Genmoji, and Image Playground
Early 2025: iOS 18.3 or 18.4, featuring a revamped Siri experience
The rollout of new features will begin soon, but it’ll be a while before everything is fully implemented. Hopefully, the entire Apple Intelligence suite will be live by the iPhone SE 4’s release.
